  18. A Taste of our Community: A Black History Month Celebration

    Each year, Black History Month is observed the entire month of February. This year, we’ll be celebrating Black History Month all month through an ongoing contest that celebrates our community. The young people who spend time at Wilson Recreation Center have many identities. They’re students, athletes, artists, cooks and gardeners, and now some of them will be able to add historian to the list. Participants will research a variety of influential African-Americans and turn their findings into artistic posters, intelligent essays and informative PowerPoint presentations. “A Taste of Our Community” will be held to award children for their entries in the Black History Month contest. On 2/21, attendees will enjoy “A Taste of Our Community” through a sampling of foods like ribs, roast beef, greens and macaroni & cheese. For more information, call 254.298.5740.
