Temple PD responds to dog attack

TEMPLE, TX (Dec. 4, 2019) – Temple Police Officers responded to an animal attack at about 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday at Jones Park, 1102 W. Ave. H.

Officers arrived on scene and noticed a male being attacked by two dogs with a third dog nearby. Officers also observed another male on the ground suffering from dog bites.

Officers approached but were unable to get the dogs to disengage. An officer fired one round that struck and killed one of the aggressive dogs. This caused the other two dogs to run away.

The dogs' owner was on scene and secured the two remaining dogs in her vehicle until Animal Services arrived and took possession of the animals.

Officers observed that both victims suffered extensive dog bites. They were both treated and transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple. No other injuries were reported.

Potential charges against the dog owner are pending.
