UPDATE: TPD Investigates Shooting
Suspect in November 6 Shooting Arrested

TEMPLE, TX (November 25, 2019) – The Temple Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, and Violent Crimes Enforcement Squad has made an arrest in connection with the shooting that took place near West Ave. M and S 17th St. After an investigation, the suspect was identified as 21-year-old Marcus Mayes.

Mayes was arrested during a traffic stop on November 22, 2019 at about 1:40 a.m., near the corner of West Irvin Ave. and N 17th St. Initially, Mayes was pulled over for failing to signal a left turn, and was found to be in possession of marijuana. Mayes was placed under arrest.

A felony hold was also placed on him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in reference to his alleged involvement in the November 6th shooting. A warrant was issued on November 23, 2019 by JP Coleman. 


TEMPLE, TX (November 6, 2019) –
The Temple Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday near West Avenue M and South 17th Street.

Officers responded to the call at about 7:55 p.m. and located a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple with non-life-threatening injuries.

No suspects have been identified. This is an active investigation and more information will be released as it is available.
