TPD Partners with Project Beloved to Create Soft Interview Room
Room provides safe space for victims of sexual assault, violent crimes
TEMPLE, TX (June 29, 2020) – The Temple Police Department has partnered with non-profit organization Project Beloved to provide a soft interview room for victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes.
The room is equipped with furniture, blankets and artwork to create a comfortable environment for victims to speak with officers.
"It can be traumatic for victims to have to recount the crimes that have been committed against them. We do our best to make them feel as comfortable as possible during this process," said Alison Sutherland, Crime Victims Liaison for Temple PD. "We are grateful to Project Beloved for making this possible."
Temple PD is the 16th agency law enforcement agency to have a soft interview room installed by Project Beloved.
“I am delighted to partner with Temple Police Department and thrilled by their interest in providing a trauma-informed space to speak with victims of sexual assault or any victim of violent crime," said Tracy Matheson, president and founder of Project Beloved. "It is a very important piece of the investigation process and I hope that this room will serve them well."
