Here's a quick recap of the top-happenings from the February 6th City Council Meeting.

Storm Drain

Construction contract approved for Azalea Drive Drainage Improvements

The Temple City Council adopted a resolution authorizing a construction contract with CSP Utilities LLC (Cornerstone Plumbing) of Waco to construct the Azalea Drive Drainage Improvements Project. Created as part of the city's drainage master plan, the $1.3 million improvement project aims to correct flooding issues affecting neighborhoods in the area.

Rezoning approved for expansion of Bella Terra in South Temple

The Temple City Council approved a rezoning request for the expansion of the Bella Terra community off South 31st Street. With Phase 1 currently under construction, 258 additional homes are now planned for the 102-acre parcel during Phases 2 and 3. The new development will also have connectivity to the future Georgetown Railroad Trail, which is a priority project included in the City of Temple's 2019 Parks and Trails Master Plan.

Life Saving Award

Citizens recognized for life-saving efforts by Temple Fire and Police

Temple residents Skeebo Reichert and Keisha Sholars both received Certificates of Commendation during the Temple City Council meeting for their efforts to help others in need. Reichart was honored by the Temple Fire Department for saving the life of a child who nearly drowned during a recent vacation to Corpus Christi. Sholars was honored by the Temple Police Department for being the first Good Samaritan on scene during the recent rescue of a teenage girl who was standing on the railing of a bridge.

The Temple City Council holds regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. These meetings take place at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 2 N. Main Street.

Agendas are distributed to the public by email and posted at City Hall the Friday prior to each meeting, and Council action taken on agenda items will be distributed by the Monday following the regularly scheduled Council meetings.  Click here to see the latest agenda and packet information.
