Residential Garbage Services
Residential garbage is collected twice per week, except for during the Holiday Schedule
. Collections will occur on Mondays and Thursdays or on Tuesdays and Fridays, depending on your location. (A general rule of thumb: South of the BNSF railroad tracks = Monday/Thursday; North of the tracks = Tuesday/Friday, with a few exceptions. See Solid Waste Residential Garbage Route Map
Residents are serviced by either a 90-gallon container with wheels that will roll to the front curb, or they are serviced by a 300-gallon container that is placed in the alley behind their house.
All residential garbage should be placed for collection by 7:00 AM on collection days. Residents with 90-gallon roll out containers will place the container with the wheels next to the curb, with the lid opening toward the street. Containers must be removed from the curb by 8:00 PM.
Alley service containers are set at property lines in the alley and shared by three (3) to four (4) homes. Customers should use the container closest to their property lines. * Please be considerate of your neighbors sharing the container.* Residents should keep alleys clear of debris by placing garbage firmly into the alley container itself.
Bulky items, boxes, brush and tree trimmings should be placed at the front curb for Brush/Bulk Collection
Fees and Rates
The monthly rate for residential service is currently $15.80 plus tax per month. This fee is included on your monthly water utility bill.
Brush and Bulk Items Collection
Residential garbage service includes twice per month brush and bulk item collection. Brush and tree trimmings must be placed in a separate pile from bulk items like furniture, appliances, junk or bags and boxes. They are handled separately. Brush and tree trimmings are delivered to the Brazos River Authority and are processed into Compost.
Construction Debris and Materials
Construction, roofing, building, remodeling and demolition materials are not included in regular residential garbage service collections. You may request a special pickup by calling the Solid Waste offices at (254) 298-5725. A special pickup fee will apply.
Customers may take one (1) pickup load of general household waste per month to the Temple Landfill
if they present their City of Temple utility bill that clearly indicates their garbage rate to the scale attendant. There will be no charge for this visit, unless the customer has more than one pickup load of waste, or the load contains remodeling, roofing, construction, building or demolition materials.
