Planned Tourism Week Actitities:

In recognition of the Texas travel industry and its important contribution to the economy of Texas, Gov. Rick Perry has proclaimed May 4-12 Texas Tourism Week. He is urging Texas cities to promote tourism awareness in their respective communities.

Temple will join in this celebration with a month of activities designed to promote the wonderful treasures of this community.

  • The Eighth Annual Discover the Visitor Center Open House will be held on Friday, May 31st. All Temple visitors and residents will be invited to the Visitor Center for refreshments throughout the day.
  •  The 2nd Annual Totally Temple Photo Challenge that will highlight what makes Temple uniquely special.
  • The drawing for Totally Temple will be held on Friday, May 31 2013 from 12pm-1pm.
  • Experience Temple’s culture and pickup a passport to Temple at one of the four participating locations until the end of May.   Using your passport to Temple, experience each of participating attractions and receive a stamp in your Temple passport: Cultural Activities Center, Czech Heritage Museum, Railroad & Heritage Museum and Visitor’s Center. Completed passports can be turned in for a chance to win a Kindle Fire. Deadline to enter in May28th.
  • Specials and discounts for area attractions will be offered through the Temple CVB Facebook page.

“Tourism has long been recognized as an economic development tool that generates revenue and jobs,” said Ken Cicora, Director of the City of Temple Parks and Leisure Services Department. “Our citizens are encouraged to take part in the week’s activities as we promote the tourism professionals and attractions in our community. They truly do have a positive impact on Temple’s economy.”
