Overview
The Solid Waste Division provides garbage collection service to approximately 18,411 residential and 2,077 commercial and industrial customers. We operate nine automated residential route trucks, one commercial side-load truck, five commercial front-load trucks, and five roll-off trucks.
We also provide brush/bulk item pickup to all residential customers using 6 brush trucks. Brush is diverted from the landfill to the Temple-Belton Wastewater Treatment Plant to be recycled and used for compost and mulch.

Items Accepted at Recylcing Centers:  Newspapers, white office paper, cardboard, magazines, plastics (#1 and #2 clear/opaque), glass (clear and brown container only, NO GREEN), and aluminum cans.


Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The City of Temple participates in periodic collection days for Household Hazardous Waste, along with assistance from the Central Texas Council of Governments and other agencies.  We highly encourage the citizens of Temple to take the opportunity to properly dispose of their household hazardous waste.

The next Hazardous Waste Collection is October 11th, 2014 from 9 am to 2pm
Location: Public Works Service Center, located at 3210 East Avenue H.

Items that can be brought to this event include: paints, cleaners, tires, all types of batteries, pesticides, flourscent bulbs, used motor oil,  and gasoline.
