Police Academy Training
The Temple Police Academy is certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education (TCLEOSE)
and abides by its rules. Our mission is to provide law enforcement related training to Academy Cadets, Licensed Texas Police Officers and Civilian Staff.
The Temple Police Academy is staffed with two full time officers and supported by personnel within the Temple Police Department who are licensed TCLEOSE instructors with a variety of specialties in law enforcement.

Temple Police Academy Basic Peace Officer's Course
The Temple Police Academy is licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education (TCLEOSE). The academy is authorized to conduct course #1000, the Basic Peace Officer's Course, for individuals to obtain a Texas Peace Officer's license. The academy hosts two courses a year, which normally begin in January and July. The hours of operation for the academy are in the day time, and there are no evening courses offered.
Who may attend the Basic Peace Officer's Course?
Attendees of the Temple Police Department's Basic Peace Officer Course must be hired by a Texas law enforcement agency, or have a letter of sponsorship from a Texas law enforcement agency.

- Must be 21 years of age before the class end date.
- Must meet TCLEOSE minimum standards for peace officer licensing.
