Charter Election

In April, the City Council appointed 27 residents of the City to a Charter Review Committee to review the current City Charter and to consider recommending changes to the Charter that could be placed on the ballot for voter consideration on November 4, 2014. The Charter Review Committee completed its review and the Committee’s recommendations were presented to the City Council at a workshop on July 17, 2014. In August, the City Council adopted an ordinance calling a special election to be held on November 4, 2014 to present to the voters the recommended amendments.

There will be 19 propositions on the ballot covering a variety of proposed amendments to the Charter. Below you will find links to a copy of the current City Charter, a redlined version of the Charter reflecting the proposed amendments, a clean version of the same, and a copy of the ordinance calling the election. There is also a link to a power point presentation which lists all 19 propositions and the effect of a “yes” or “no” vote on each proposition.
