Temple Fire & Rescue Bond Projects

Central Fire Station #1/Administration

 

$7,175,000

 

  • Approximately 21,000 square foot facility (current 1964  constructed facility is approximately 10,900 square feet)
  • To be located in the downtown fire district
  • Capacity to house three fire companies simultaneously
  • Minimum of four drive-thru apparatus bays (current bays restrict height and length of apparatus, and requires apparatus to be backed into bays

Fire Station #8/Training Center/Emergency Operations Center (combined facility)

 

Facility: $4,775,000

Engine #8 with air packs: $565,000

 

Fire Station #8:

  • To be located in the northwest quadrant of the City
  • Will assist in improving City-wide response times
  • Approximately 7,500 square feet of the facility
  • Three drive-thru apparatus bays

 

Training Center/Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

  • At least four multi-purpose classrooms that will also serve as the primary EOC in case of public emergency
  • Rooms to be outfitted with new technology equipment to allow for specialized training, and in the case of public emergency, enable the provision of efficient direction, control, and warnings to the citizens of Temple.
  • Co-locating with a fire station will allow for hands on training
  • Approximately 5,500 square feet of the facility

Fire Engine Replacements

 

Replace Engine #1: $540,000

Replace Engine #4: $540,000

 

  • Fire Engine #1, a 1995 model, is the front line engine for Station #1
  • Fire Engine #4, a 1995 model, is the front line engine for Station #4
  • National Fire Protection Association recommends the normal life expectancy of frontline engines to be 10-15 years
  • Current engines will be used as ‘reserve’ units
