  1. Youth Basketball League Early Registration Deadline

    November 22, All Day @ Register at the Wilson Park Recreation Center.

    Practices will be held on various days and times beginning January 7. Games are played on Saturdays beginning January 17. Youth ages 4-12 as of September 1, 2014 are eligible to participate. Volunteer coaches are needed for this league.

  2. 10th Annual Schlotzsky's Jingle Bun Run Pre-registration Deadline

    November 23, All Day @ Register at Wilson Park Recreation Center or online at www.racetemple.com

    Come run with Santa for the holidays! A 5K and half marathon race will be held beginning and ending at the Scott and White West Campus featuring the Pepper Creek Trail. Santa will run a 1K race with the kids upon completion of the 5K. Awards are given to the overall male and female finishers as well as the top 3 finishers per age group. The event will be chip timed by Pro-Fit Event Services and will include access to professional race photos from Photowolfe.com. 5K pre-registration closes December 9, $20. Race day registration will be $25. 1K registration registration, $10 Dri-Fit shirts guaranteed for the 5K/1K if registered by November 22. Discounted rates available for groups of 15 or more entering the 5K (please contact us for details).     Agility training helps both dog and owner bond and develop mutual respect and communication skills as both negotiate obstacles and work through agility challenges on the course. In this introductory session, challenges will include a tunnel, shoot, tire, weave poles and jumps. As a prerequisite, all dogs must have completed a recent dog obedience course and must be at least one year old. Equipment and space are limited. Please bring current shot records to the first class. Led by Lynn Foster, an experienced trainer.

    Nothing warms a soul more than a blanket made with loving hands. Warmth and happiness abound, not only from the brightly colored crocheted blankets, but from the hearts of this unique group. This circle of friends meets once a week to create beautiful, hand-made, crocheted items which are then donated to local nursing homes and hospice centers. Donations of new skeins of yarn are always needed and appreciated.

This program gives children the opportunity to grow and develop both socially and mentally while giving mom some “me time”. Children must be at least 3 years old and fully potty trained (no diapers or pull-ups allowed). Pre-registration is required.

  2. ICE at the Gaylor Texan Day Trip

    November 22, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ Van will depart from Blackmon Community Center

    Join us for a magical adventure in more than 2 million pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures and slides! The award winning ICE! attraction is carved by 40 master artisans and craftspeople who spend more than a month creating this one-of-a-kind ice display. Location: Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center. Bring a sack lunch, we will stop for dinner on the way home. Dinner cost is not included in program fee. Van will leave promptly at 8 a.m. from the Blackmon Community Center.
