Calling All Minions: Despicable Me 2 to be Shown in Lions Park Saturday

The Temple Parks Foundation will conclude this year’s free Movies in the Park series this Saturday, July 5th at Lions Park (4320 Lions Park Rd.) featuring the computer animated film, Despicable Me 2, sponsored by H-E-B in Temple. This will be the final film shown during the 2014 series.

“We are excited to be showing this great movie at Lions Park, one Temple’s best parks. H-E-B. has been a strong supporter of our City Park’s and the Temple Park’s Foundation. We are honored to partner with them again for this year and look forward to seeing families from across the community join us for this fun & free event,” said Temple Parks Foundation Member, Jason Culp. Pre-movie activities begin at 6:30 p.m. with the movie starting at sunset. Movies in the Park is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Saturday’s film, Despicable Me 2, continues the story of Gru, who once led the life of a super villain and aspired to steal the moon but now is a single, adoptive father of three precocious young girls. Despicable Me 2 is a computer animated film, featuring voices of: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt and Miranda Cosgrove. The film is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America.

The movie will be projected on a 30 x 17 foot high definition screen featuring a sound system that rivals any indoor movie theater experience. The screen and presentation of the movie are provided by Grand Avenue Theater in Belton.

“We have had a fantastic season and hope everybody can come out to Lions Park to watch Despicable Me 2 this Saturday night as the Movies in the Park series concludes for the summer,” said Holly Leiferman, Special Events Coordinator. “We want to thank the Temple Parks Foundation and H-E-B for their commitment to this event as we would not be able to bring great events like this to the community without their continued support.”
