Tejano Band Grupo Avidez Headlines This Week's Hot Summer Sounds Concert

The Scott & White Health Plan Hot Summer Sounds concert series continues this week with a performance by Tejano music group, Grupo Avidez. The concert will take place this Friday night, June 13th, in Miller Park (1919 North 1st Street) from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Grupo Avidez, a local Tejano band from central Texas, is sure to offer a performance that will get you moving in your seat. The band will feature a great selection from all-time favorites such as David Lee Garza and Ramon Ayala. Chris Hernandez leads the band on vocals as Thomas Guerra (lead guitar), Pat Tobar (bass guitar) and Able Tobar (drums) keep the rhythm and the beat. Kris Barrientos follows it up with the sweet sound of the accordion. Having been influenced by many different genres of music, Grupo Avidez blends ideas and sounds to create originality, while keeping the Tejano sound alive.

“We are offering a whole new musical genre again at this week’s Hot Summer Sounds concert series. This week’s entertainment will provide some great, upbeat Tejano music,” said Holly Leiferman, Parks and Leisure Services Special Events Coordinator. “We would also like to thank our sponsor, Scott and White Health Plan, as we would not be able to bring these great concerts to the park each week without their support.”

Hot Summer Sounds is free and open to the public. Concerts are held every Friday night at 7:30 p.m. through July 25th. For more information about the free weekly Hot Summer Sounds Concert Series presented by The Scott & White Health Plan, please visit www.templeparks.com or call (254) 298-5440.
