The Temple Visitor Center has recently relocated from the west end of the City Hall parking lot to the first floor of the historic Santa Fe Depot. The new location was chosen so that visitor information and assistance could be more readily available to a larger number of guests who visit the city each day.
“Relocating the Visitor Center to the Santa Fe Depot will be a much more convenient and accessible location for visitors to our city. Our staff will now have the opportunity to provide information about our community to a larger audience each day,” said Temple Parks and Leisure Services Interim Director, Kevin Beavers.
A Grand Re-Opening Celebration and Open House is scheduled for Thursday, April 17, from 10am-5pm. Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day and the public is invited to attend. The Temple Chamber of Commerce will be on hand at 3:00pm for a Ribbon Cutting.
As a part of the celebration, the Temple Convention & Visitors Bureau staff will be conducting a “Picture Yourself at the Temple VC” Instagram photo contest. Participants in the contest will be invited to take part in the Grand Re-Opening Celebration, take pictures of the new Visitor Center – or a fun selfie – then, upload the picture to Instagram using #NewTempleVC. Two Temple prize packs will be awarded – one for the picture with the most likes and one for the selfie with the most likes. Likes will be tallied until 5:00 on Monday, April 21. Award winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 22.
The Santa Fe Depot and New Temple Visitor Center are located at 315 West Avenue B in Downtown Temple. For more information about the Temple Visitor Center or the Grand Re-Opening Celebration, visit discovertemple.com or call 298-5900.
